Three simple rainbow facts
A rainbow appears when sunlight passes through tiny water droplets in the air, often after rain. The colours are usually seen in this order: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet. A rainbow is shaped like an arc because we see only part of the circle made by light and water droplets. Tell your child that two people standing in different places may not see exactly the same rainbow.
