This set includes four-line writing templates for a range of early learning needs. Younger children can trace or copy large letters, draw small pictures and practise keeping marks between the lines. Children in LKG, UKG and Class 1 can write words and short sentences with more regular spacing. Older children can use the paper for spelling practice, vocabulary, dictation, maths number names or neat presentation work. Some pages can be used with pencil, crayon or a thick marker, while others leave more room for smaller handwriting.
At home, choose one word from your child's reading book and ask them to copy it across the lines. Say a sound, letter or number for your child to write, then let them draw a matching picture below or beside the work. In class, use the templates for morning writing, name practice, dictation and a short sentence about a lesson. Pair children for a read-and-check activity where one child reads the writing and the other checks line use, spaces and full stops. You can also keep a few pages in a writing folder for regular practice.
Children often make letters too large, place every letter on the same line or leave uneven spaces between words. First model one letter slowly, showing where it starts, where it goes and which line it touches. Give one correction at a time instead of asking your child to fix everything at once. For a child who presses hard or tires quickly, begin with a few letters and pause. Older children can check their own work by circling letters that sit neatly, words with clear spaces and sentences that begin with a capital letter.
It is used to practise letter formation, word spacing, handwriting, spelling, number names and short sentences. The lines give children a visual guide for keeping their writing in place.
These templates suit children from about 3 to 12 years. Choose larger, simpler layouts for early writers and pages with more writing room for older children.
Four line paper gives more guidance for letter height and placement than a single ruled line. It can help children see where tall letters, small letters and hanging parts should sit.
You can use suitable pages for Hindi letter and word practice, with guidance from your child's teacher. For pages made specifically for Hindi handwriting, see [Hindi Writing Paper](/planners-templates/writing-paper/hindi-writing-paper/).
