This set brings together simple ways to meet the letter C. Younger children can colour large C outlines, point to matching pictures and practise following dotted lines. Children who are ready to write can trace uppercase C and lowercase c, find C among other letters and copy it independently. Picture tasks use familiar words such as cat, car, cup and cake, so children can connect the letter shape with its sound. The activities work well alongside other alphabet pages, including Letter A Worksheets and Letter B Worksheets.
At home, choose one sheet for a short sitting and say the letter name and sound as your child works. Invite your child to circle every C, then find one object nearby that begins with the same sound. In class, place a few completed sheets at a literacy table with chunky crayons and pencils. Children can work with a partner, taking turns to name the pictures and check the letter shapes. For a small group, write C and c on the board, model the curved stroke slowly and let children air-write before using their worksheet.
Children often make C too small, close the open curve, or start the pencil stroke in a different place each time. Show a large C and use simple words such as, "Start at the top, curve around, and stop." Some children may confuse C with O because both letters are round. Point out that C has an opening while O is closed. For early phonics, keep the focus on the common /k/ sound in words such as cat, car and cup. If a child is tired, return to colouring and picture matching before asking for more writing.
Children practise recognising uppercase C and lowercase c, tracing their shapes, writing the letters and hearing the beginning sound in simple words.
The set suits children aged 2 to 6. Younger children can colour, match and trace, while older children can copy letters and complete sound activities.
Teach both together in short practice sessions. Say "C" and then model its common /k/ sound in words such as cat, car and cup.
Show that C has an open space and O is closed. Let your child trace both letters, then practise stopping before the curve meets its starting point.
