These shopping math worksheets use simple shop scenes, price tags, shopping lists and pretend money. Younger children can match coins to prices, count items and circle what they can buy. Older children can add two or more prices, compare costs, work out the amount left and find simple change. The activities use Indian rupee amounts so children can connect the maths to familiar shopping trips. Clear pictures and short tasks help children work independently, while an adult can read the instructions aloud when needed.
At home, give your child a short shopping list and let them complete one sheet before a real trip to the market or local shop. Keep a small bowl of safe play coins nearby so they can build each amount instead of guessing. In class, set up a pretend shop with empty clean packets, price cards and a paper shopping bag. Children can take turns as shopper and shopkeeper, then record their answers on a worksheet. Pair a child who is confident with one who needs help, and ask both children to explain how they counted.
Children often choose a coin because it looks large, read a price from the wrong item or count the same coin twice. Ask your child to point to the price tag first, say the amount aloud and touch each coin once while counting. When finding change, use a number line or count up from the price to the amount paid. Keep rupees and paise separate at this stage unless the worksheet clearly includes both. For extra practice, compare two prices using more, less or equal before asking your child to add them.
Children practise recognising money, reading prices, counting coins, adding costs, comparing amounts and finding simple change. The tasks also give them practice following a shopping list.
The set suits children aged 4 to 8. Start with matching and counting tasks for younger children, then move to price addition, budgets and change for older children.
