Activities for early letter practice

This set introduces both uppercase I and lowercase i through tracing, matching, colouring, and simple picture activities. Younger children can begin with large letter shapes, finger tracing, and pictures that start with the short i sound. Simple ways to use the worksheets

Helping with common letter I mistakes

Children often confuse lowercase i with l, forget the dot, or write the uppercase I as a long line without its top and bottom strokes. Show the letter slowly and use a simple cue such as, "i has a dot on top". Some children also say the letter name when they need the short sound in words such as insect, igloo, or ink. Say the sound first, then the word, and let your child repeat it. Do not mark every error at once. Point to one part to fix, then give another easy word for practice.
