Letter paths for different ages

This set includes simple alphabet paths for younger children and more challenging puzzles for children who know most letter names. Some mazes use large capital letters in clear order, while others include lowercase letters, mixed cases or a few letters that need careful checking. Children may guide the path from A to Z, find a missing letter or choose the correct next letter. Short paths with wide spaces suit Nursery, LKG and UKG children. Older children in Classes 1 to 3 can try less crowded paths and letter-sound clues.

Use the mazes at home or in class

At home, let your child say each letter aloud before moving to the next one. You can take turns, with your child finding the path and you reading a short word at the finish. In class, use a maze as a quiet table task, a warm-up before alphabet work or a partner activity where one child points and the other checks the sequence. Invite children to colour the pictures after completing the path. You can pair these pages with Easy Mazes when a child needs a gentler starting point.

Help children check the letter sequence

A common mistake is jumping to a letter that looks familiar instead of checking the full order. Children may also confuse b and d, p and q, or uppercase and lowercase forms. Ask your child to point to each letter and say it slowly, rather than rubbing out every wrong turn. If the path becomes confusing, cover part of the page and work in small sections. For children who are ready, ask them to explain why one nearby letter is correct and another is not. Keep the focus on careful checking, rather than speed.

Lumi's tips

  • Make it easier by giving your child an alphabet strip or writing the next three letters on a small card.
  • Make it harder by asking your child to follow the path silently first and then read the completed letter sequence aloud.
  • Keep it connected to daily life by asking your child to find the same letters on a book cover, name card or classroom label.
