The set introduces skip counting through clear sequences, missing numbers, matching tasks and picture-based activities. Younger children can begin by saying a pattern aloud and colouring groups of objects. Children who are ready for more can fill in missing numbers by 2s, 5s or 10s and continue a sequence without picture support. The pages use large spaces and familiar objects, so a child can focus on the number pattern rather than a crowded layout. For children still learning numeral names, read each number together before asking them to write.
At home, place a few counters, buttons or toy blocks beside the worksheet. Ask your child to make groups before completing the matching number pattern. In class, use one page with a small group, then let children take turns saying the next number. Add movement by asking the class to clap, tap or take one step for each skip. You can pair these pages with Number 2 Worksheets or Number 5 Worksheets when a child needs extra practice with a particular numeral.
A common mistake is to count every number instead of counting in equal jumps. A child may write 2, 3, 4 when the pattern is counting by 2s, or lose track after a missing number. Point to the first two numbers and ask, "How many more did we add?" Keep the same jump visible with counters or a number line. If the child is unsure, say the sequence together slowly and tap once for each number. Check that the child understands the pattern before asking for neat handwriting.
Skip counting means counting forwards in equal jumps instead of saying every number. For example, counting by 2s gives 2, 4, 6, 8.
Children can meet simple skip-counting patterns from about age 2 through songs, claps and groups of objects. Written worksheets are usually easier from Nursery or LKG onwards, with adult help when needed.
Counting by 2s, 5s and 10s is a useful starting point because children can connect these patterns to pairs, fingers and groups of ten. Begin with one pattern at a time.
Make equal groups with counters and say the next number only after adding one whole group. A number line, clapping or stepping can make each jump easier to notice.
