This set covers the building blocks of Class 1 English. Children may trace letters and words, match pictures to beginning sounds, read CVC words, sort naming words, complete simple sentences and use capital letters and full stops. Some pages give a short reading passage with easy questions, while others support handwriting and vocabulary. Younger children can work with the picture and tracing activities, while children in Class 1 can try the sentence and reading tasks. Older children may use the easier pages for revision or extra practice. You can also pair these with Nursery English Worksheets when your child needs a gentler starting point.
At home, choose one short page after a story or reading session. Ask your child to say each sound aloud before writing, then let them colour a picture or circle an answer. In class, use a worksheet as a morning task, a small-group activity or quiet revision after a phonics lesson. Pair children so one child reads a word and the other finds or writes it. For a writing page, first talk about the picture together and collect a few useful words on the board. Keep unfinished work for another day rather than rushing through it.
Children often confuse b and d, miss the middle sound in CVC words, or write a sentence without a capital letter or full stop. Point to one part at a time and ask your child to say the word slowly. For b and d, use a consistent finger or hand reminder, then practise with a few familiar words. If a sentence is missing a word, read it aloud and ask what would make the meaning complete. Praise careful checking, not just a correct answer. In India, you can connect new words to familiar objects such as a bus, bag, mango or school bell.
The pages cover early phonics, letter sounds, CVC words, vocabulary, handwriting, simple grammar, sentence building, reading and basic comprehension.
Yes. The set includes easier tracing, matching and picture-based work for younger children aged about 3 to 5. Choose activities that match your child's current practice level.
Read the directions together, say the words aloud and encourage your child to check each answer. Short, regular practice is usually easier than completing many pages at once.
Most EarlyActivity printables are free to download with a free account, which allows up to 20 downloads a day. The files are PDFs for A4 and US Letter paper, for use at home or in your own classroom.
