The set uses clear pictures of familiar birds with simple labels in English. Young children can point, repeat names and notice features such as wings, feathers, beaks and feet. Children who are ready for more can sort birds by colour, size, habitat or sound. The cards support early vocabulary without asking children to read long sentences. Use them alongside Animal Flashcards when your child is learning the difference between birds and other animals.
Show two or three cards at a time and ask your child to name the bird or point to the one you say. Place a matching pair face down for a small memory game, or ask children to group birds that swim, fly or live near people. In class, give each child a card and invite them to make the sound or movement of that bird. At home, take a card near a window or balcony and talk about birds your child has seen, without trying to touch or feed them.
Children may call every flying animal a bird, or confuse a bird's beak with a mouth. Point to the wings, feathers, beak and legs on each picture, then compare two cards gently. Some children may know a bird by its sound but not by its name, so say both together, such as, "This is a crow. Crows caw." Keep local experience in mind. A child may recognise a pigeon or myna before an eagle, so begin with birds seen around your home, school or neighbourhood.
They help young children learn bird names, recognise pictures, practise speaking and build simple matching or sorting skills.
Begin with familiar birds such as a crow, pigeon, sparrow, parrot, duck, hen, owl and peacock. Add less familiar birds as your child becomes comfortable with the names.
Show one or two cards, name each bird clearly and let your child point, repeat or copy its sound. Short sessions work well, and stopping while your child is still interested keeps the activity pleasant.

Say the name while your child looks at the picture, then ask them to find the same bird from two or three cards. Repeating the name during play helps connect the spoken word with the picture.
