The set uses clear colour cards with large labels and familiar visual cues. Younger children can look, point and repeat names such as red, blue, yellow and green. Children who are ready for more can sort cards, find matching objects or say a colour without seeing the label. Keep the first practice short and cheerful. You can begin with two or three cards, then add more as your child becomes comfortable. Pair these cards with Shapes Flashcards or Fruits Flashcards for extra speaking practice.
At home, place two cards on the floor and ask your child to bring a matching object, such as a red cup or a blue pencil. Hold up one card during dressing, mealtimes or tidying and ask your child to spot that colour nearby. In class, give small groups a few cards to sort by colour, then let each child name one card. You can also play a simple memory game by placing cards face down and asking children to turn one over and name it. Use the cards for a quick five-minute starter before drawing or craft work.
Young children may know a colour but use its name for another colour, especially when several shades look alike. They may also rely on the picture instead of reading the word. Say the colour clearly, point to the card and repeat it without making the child feel tested. Compare two cards at a time, such as red and yellow, before adding another. Use real objects in good light and accept close attempts while your child is learning. For children who confuse similar shades, focus on common colour names first and leave lighter and darker shades for later.
They help children recognise, name, match and sort colours. You can use them for short games, speaking practice and everyday observation.
Children can begin around age 2 by pointing to and matching two simple colours. Children aged 3 to 6 can name more colours and play sorting or memory games.
Practise with two clearly different colours at a time. Show real objects, say each name slowly and give your child time to answer without rushing.
Yes. Use them for circle-time practice, small-group sorting, object hunts or a quick review before an art activity.
