The set uses clear numerals, simple multiplication sentences and small groups of familiar objects. Younger children can count the objects, match equal groups and say how many are in each group. Children who are ready for more can read facts such as 2 groups of 3 and connect them with 2 x 3. The cards suit short practice sessions rather than long lessons. Start with picture clues for Nursery, LKG and UKG children, then use the number facts with children in Class 1 who are beginning formal multiplication.
Show one card at a time and let your child build the groups with buttons, bottle caps or blocks. In class, place a card at each table and ask children to make the matching groups with counters. Take turns covering the answer, reading the fact aloud and checking it together. You can also sort cards by the number of groups or make a small matching game with a picture card and its number sentence. For a quiet home activity, let your child draw the groups on paper before saying the answer. Number Flashcards can help with number recognition alongside this set.
Young children often count every object one by one, which is a useful first step. Some may confuse the number of groups with the number in each group, or think that changing the order always changes the answer. Use real objects and ask two separate questions: How many groups are there? How many objects are in each group? Then count all the objects together. For example, three groups of two and two groups of three both make six, even though the groups look different. Keep the language slow and consistent before asking your child to recall a fact without pictures.
Children aged 2 to 4 can use the pictures for counting and making equal groups. Children aged 5 to 6 can begin reading simple multiplication sentences and recalling easy facts.
Begin with equal groups made from toys, blocks or snacks. Say the groups aloud, count the total and introduce the multiplication sentence after your child understands the objects.
Yes. Use the picture side, speak the words aloud and let your child count the objects. Reading the numerals can come later.
