This set presents clear numerals with familiar groups of objects, helping your child link a written number to how many items they see. Younger children can name numbers, point to each object and practise counting aloud. Children who are ready for more can compare two cards, arrange numbers in order or say the number that comes before and after. The uncluttered layout suits Nursery, LKG and UKG children, while simple games make the cards useful for early Class 1 practice too. For related learning, try Shapes Flashcards after a counting activity.
Show one card at a time and ask your child to say the numeral before counting the pictures. Place a small group of spoons, blocks or pencils nearby and ask your child to make the same quantity. In a classroom, give pairs of children a few cards to arrange from smallest to largest, then let them check each other's work by counting the pictures. You can also hide one card from a sequence and ask children which number is missing. Keep each turn brief, especially for younger children, and repeat the same game on another day.
Children often recognise a number when they hear it but struggle to match it to the correct quantity. Some count the same object twice, miss an object or start counting from a different place each time. Move a finger or small counter along each picture as your child counts, and ask them to touch only one object for each number word. If a numeral is reversed or confused with another, compare just two cards and trace the numeral slowly in the air. Do not rush to correct every answer. Count together, then give your child another chance.
These cards suit children from about 2 to 6 years. Younger children can name numerals and count pictures, while older children can order numbers and solve simple one-more or one-less tasks.
Show one card, say the numeral and count each picture together. Then ask your child to find the same quantity using blocks, pencils or another familiar object.
Learning in order helps children build a number sequence, but they should also see single numbers on their own. Mix familiar cards once your child can say the sequence with confidence.
Compare two numerals at a time and name their differences. Let your child trace each one in the air, say its name and match it with the correct group of objects.
