About this book

From first lines to letters and numbers

This pack gives your child a gentle, step-by-step way to build pencil control. It starts with big, simple lines and shapes, moves on to tracing pictures, letters and numbers, and mixes in mazes, cut-and-paste and counting pages so practice never feels like a chore.

There are 2,339 printable pages in 10 sections, so you can print a different page every day for months, or print the same page again until your child is ready to move on.

How to use it

  • Weeks 1–2: straight, curved and zig-zag line tracing. Let your child go slowly and stay inside the guides.
  • Weeks 3–4: shape tracing and picture tracing, then colour the picture in as a reward.
  • Weeks 5–8: number and letter tracing, a few characters a day.
  • Any time: mazes, cut-and-paste and counting pages for a change of pace.

Tips for little hands

  • Keep sessions short: 10 minutes a day works better than one long session.
  • Use thick crayons or triangular pencils for younger children; they are easier to grip.
  • Slide a page into a plastic sleeve and use a dry-erase marker to practise the same page again and again.
  • Praise effort, not neatness. Control comes with practice.
