About lesson planning

Lesson planning tools in one place

This subcategory brings together practical pages for preparing lessons, organising a school week and keeping communication records. The topic pages are grouped by purpose, so you can go straight to a Lesson Plan Template for one class, a Weekly Lesson Planner for several days, or a Teacher Planner for broader notes. A Substitute Teacher Folder helps you leave clear instructions when another adult takes the class. Parent Teacher Meeting Forms give you space for observations, questions and follow-up notes. The pages suit nursery, LKG, UKG and Classes 1 to 5, as well as home learning.

Choose a planner by age and level

Start with the children you teach and the amount of detail you need. For ages 3 to 5, plan short activities such as a story, a rhyme, a colour task and a movement break. For ages 6 to 8, add reading, spelling, maths practice and a simple review task. For ages 9 to 12, include learning goals, materials, independent work and homework notes. A weekly planner helps when you teach several subjects, while a single lesson template is useful for one focused activity. Keep plans shorter for younger children and add more spaces for assessment as children grow.

Use the pages at home or in class

Print a weekly planner on Sunday and fill in the main subjects, materials and activities before the school week begins. In a classroom, keep the daily plan beside your teaching books and tick off tasks as you complete them. A homeschool parent can use the same page to balance reading, maths, art, outdoor time and quiet work. Place a completed substitute folder near the classroom door with the timetable, attendance notes, classroom routines and simple activity instructions. Before a parent teacher meeting, use the form to record strengths, questions and one practical next step.

Download and print from EarlyActivity

Open the topic page you need and select the printable PDF. Most EarlyActivity printables are free, and downloading needs a free account. A free account can download up to 20 printables a day. The files are sized for A4 and US Letter paper. In your print settings, choose Actual size or 100% so the writing spaces keep their intended proportions. Print one copy first to check the layout, then make copies for your own home or classroom use. Sharing or reselling the files is not allowed.
