Choose the right level for your child

For a child who is beginning English grammar, choose naming words, action words, opposites, singular and plural, or Is Am Are. These suit early primary practice when your child is building simple vocabulary and sentences. Children in Classes 2 and 3 can try pronouns, adjectives, prepositions, articles and conjunctions. Older children may practise tenses, adverbs, punctuation, sentence making and question words. Read each worksheet before printing and select activities that match what your child is learning at school.

Simple ways to use the worksheets

At home, print one page for a short practice session after reading time. Ask your child to say each answer aloud, then check the completed page together. You can use a nouns worksheet while sorting objects around the room, or practise prepositions with a pencil and a book. In class, use a worksheet for individual work, a quick revision task or pair checking. Keep a few pages ready for early finishers. For extra practice, ask children to write two of their own sentences using the grammar rule from the page.
