About back to school

What You Will Find Here

The subcategory is organised into three useful topic pages. Back to School Worksheets help children practise names, classroom items, routines, pencil control, letters, numbers, and simple writing. Getting to Know You Worksheets give children gentle prompts to share their favourite things, family details, interests, and hopes for the school year. First Week of School Activities include simple colouring, matching, drawing, and classroom tasks to help children take part from the first few days. Start with a broad worksheet page, then choose an activity that suits your child's current level.

Choosing Pages by Age and Level

For children aged 3 to 5, choose pages with large pictures, tracing lines, matching, colouring, and short oral prompts. Children in LKG and UKG can try name tracing, classroom-object sorting, and simple counting. Class 1 and Class 2 children may enjoy drawing self-portraits, writing a few sentences, and completing school-routine sequences. For Class 3 to 5, choose pages with longer writing prompts, goals for the term, and questions about interests. If a page feels difficult, read the instructions aloud and let your child answer by drawing first.

Ideas for Home and Classroom Use

At home, print one page before the first school day and talk through what your child may see in the classroom. Use a getting-to-know-you page during a family conversation, then let your child decorate it. In class, place a simple worksheet on each desk for a quiet start while you greet children. Pair children to compare answers, or make a display of self-portraits and first-week hopes. You can also use a classroom-routine page as a short speaking activity. Keep writing tasks brief for younger children and offer crayons, pencils, or coloured pencils.

Downloading and Printing from EarlyActivity

Choose a topic page, open the printable you need, and download the PDF from EarlyActivity. Most printables are free, but downloading needs a free account. A free account can download up to 20 printables a day. The files are sized for A4 and US Letter paper. In your printer settings, select "Actual size" or 100% so tracing boxes and writing lines keep their intended size. Print at home or for use in your own classroom. The files may not be shared or resold.
