This set gives children several ways to meet Seen, or س, before they are asked to write it independently. Younger children can trace large letter shapes, colour pictures and find س among other Arabic letters. Older children can practise the letter in its isolated, initial, medial and final forms, then copy short words. The activities use clear lines and generous writing space, so you can choose a suitable starting point for Nursery, LKG, UKG or primary learners. Children who are new to Arabic can begin with the Arabic Alphabet Worksheets before focusing on Seen.
At home, say the sound /s/ while your child points to س, then let them trace it with a finger before using a pencil. Ask your child to find objects beginning with the same sound in English or another familiar language, while keeping the Arabic letter as the main focus. In class, use one activity for warm-up practice and place another at a writing station. Children can work in pairs to circle Seen in words, match labels to pictures or read the letter aloud. Keep a small space on the page for a child to copy one favourite word.
Seen has no dots, which helps children tell it apart from Sheen, ش, but its smooth, three-tooth shape can still be tricky. Children may write the teeth unevenly, start from the wrong side or use the isolated form inside a connected word. Model Arabic writing from right to left and show how the shape changes when it joins a letter. Encourage a slow pencil movement rather than repeated rubbing. The Arabic Letter Tracing Worksheets can give extra practice before your child moves to free writing.
Seen, written س, usually makes the /s/ sound, as in the beginning of سمكة. It has no dots.
Start with finger tracing, then move to pencil tracing and copying. Ask your child to find س in short Arabic words and say the sound while writing.
Seen changes shape when it joins other letters. Children may practise the isolated form س, the initial form سـ, the medial form ـسـ and the final form ـس.
Seen is س and has no dots, while Sheen is ش and has three dots above it. Show both letters side by side and ask your child to circle the one without dots.
