About fractions & decimals

Fractions and decimals in one place

This subcategory brings together worksheets that help children build fraction and decimal skills step by step. Start with Fractions Worksheets for basic practice, then use Half and Quarter Worksheets and Identifying Fractions Worksheets to connect pictures with numbers. Comparing Fractions Worksheets and Equivalent Fractions Worksheets support more advanced understanding, while Adding Fractions Worksheets gives children written practice. Decimals Worksheets covers reading, writing and working with decimal numbers. Each topic page keeps related activities together, so you can choose a worksheet that matches the lesson your child is learning.

Choose a worksheet by age and level

For a younger child around 6 or 7, begin with pictures showing halves and quarters, then ask the child to shade or name each part. Children who can recognise simple fractions may be ready for identifying and comparing fractions with the same denominator. Around ages 8 to 10, try equivalent fractions and adding fractions with clear, small numbers. Older children can practise fractions with different denominators and decimal questions. Check the examples on each worksheet before printing, and select a page your child can attempt with a little support rather than one that feels too difficult.

Simple ways to practise at home or in class

At home, print one page and use everyday objects to explain the questions. Cut a roti, sandwich or paper circle into equal parts, then ask your child to name one half or one quarter. In class, place fraction cards or completed worksheets in pairs and let children explain how they found an answer. Use a short session of 10 to 15 minutes, followed by a quick check together. For extra practice, ask children to draw their own fraction picture, change a fraction into an equivalent form, or write a decimal shown on a place-value chart.

Download and print your worksheet

Open the topic page you need, choose a worksheet, and download the PDF using your EarlyActivity account. Most printables are free, and a free account can download up to 20 printables a day. The files are sized for A4 and US Letter paper. In your printer settings, select Actual size or 100 percent so the boxes and number lines keep their intended size. Print for use at home or in your own classroom. The files may not be shared or resold.
