Practice for different learning levels

This set brings together early Hindi practice and Class 2 skills in one place. Younger children can trace letters, match pictures to words and copy short words. Children who are ready for more can complete missing matras, read simple sentences, arrange words and answer short questions. The activities use familiar vocabulary from home, school, colours, animals, food and daily routines. If your child needs more letter practice first, try the Hindi Varnamala Worksheets before moving to longer words and sentences.

Simple ways to use the worksheets

At home, choose one worksheet for a short practice session after school or before story time. Ask your child to say each word aloud before writing it, then let them draw or colour one matching picture. In class, use a worksheet as morning work, pair practice or a quiet follow-up after a Hindi lesson. You can read the instructions aloud for younger learners and let older children work independently. Keep a small notebook nearby for new words your child wants to remember.

Helping with matras and spelling

Children often recognise a consonant but forget to place a matra correctly, especially when a word changes sound after a matra is added. They may also reverse letter shapes, leave out a matra or join words when copying a sentence. Ask your child to point to each part of the word, say the sound slowly and then write it. Compare two words aloud, such as कम and काम, without treating mistakes as a problem. For extra practice with a specific sound, use the Aa Ki Matra Worksheets alongside this set.

Lumi's tips

  • Start with tracing and picture matching, then ask your child to copy only two or three words independently.
  • Make the work harder by asking your child to use new Hindi words in short sentences or sort words by their matra.
  • Link practice to real life by labelling familiar objects at home in Hindi and reading the labels together.

Are these Hindi worksheets suitable for a five-year-old?

Yes. Younger children can use the tracing, matching and picture-based pages with help from an adult. The reading and sentence pages can be saved for later or used as a gentle challenge.
