About shapes & geometry

Shape and geometry topics in one place

This subcategory brings together worksheets for early shape recognition and first geometry skills. Start with Shapes Worksheets for mixed practice, then choose 2D Shapes Worksheets or 3D Shapes Worksheets for flat and solid shapes. Individual pages focus on circles, squares, triangles, and rectangles. Older children can practise Symmetry Worksheets, Lines and Angles Worksheets, Perimeter Worksheets, and Area Worksheets. The topics move from naming and matching to drawing, measuring, and solving simple problems, so you can pick a page that fits the skill your child is practising.

Choose a worksheet by age and level

For children around age 2 to 4, begin with large, clear shapes to trace, colour, match, or sort. A Nursery or LKG child might circle all the triangles or find squares in a group. Children around age 4 to 6 can name 2D shapes, count sides and corners, and compare rectangles with squares. For Class 1 to 3, try 3D shapes, simple symmetry, lines and angles, perimeter, or area. Read the page before printing and give your child fewer questions at first if the task feels new.

Simple ways to use the pages

At home, print one page for a short maths activity after your child has found similar shapes around the room. Ask them to point out a circle on a plate, a rectangle on a book, or a square on a tile before they begin. In class, place shape worksheets at a table for independent work or use one page for a whole-group discussion. Children can colour matching shapes, draw a line of symmetry, or label sides and corners. Let them use a ruler for perimeter and area pages, and check each answer by counting together.

Download and print from EarlyActivity

Choose a topic page and select the worksheet you want to use. Most EarlyActivity printables are free, and downloading needs a free account. A free account can download up to 20 printables each day. The files are PDFs sized for A4 and US Letter paper. In your printer settings, select Actual size or 100% so the shapes and answer spaces keep their intended size. You may print the pages for use at home or in your own classroom. Sharing or reselling the files is not allowed.
