What is in this worksheet set

The set covers common emotions such as happy, sad, angry, worried, surprised, calm and proud. Younger children can match faces, colour expressions and point to simple feeling words. Older children can connect feelings with situations, notice body clues and write or draw a helpful response. Some activities use emotion scales, short scenarios and sentence starters, so you can choose a suitable page for your child. Simple ways to use the pages

At home, choose one worksheet after a story, a school day or a family conversation. Ask your child to name the feeling first, then share a time they felt it. In class, use a page during circle time, morning work or a personal and social development lesson. Children can work alone, with a partner or in a small group. Keep the discussion open by accepting different answers. A child may draw a face, use a home language word or explain a feeling in their own way.

Helping children understand feelings

Children often confuse a feeling with an action. A child may say, "I am angry" when they mean, "I hit someone because I was angry." Gently separate the two by saying, "Anger is a feeling. Hitting is an action, and we need a safer choice." Some children may also think that only one face shows an emotion. Explain that feelings can look different on different people and can change during the day. Ask about body clues, such as tight fists or a warm face, without telling your child how they must feel.

Lumi's tips

  • Make the task easier by offering two or three feeling words and letting your child point, circle or draw instead of writing.
  • Make it harder by asking your child to give two possible reasons for a feeling and two safe ways to respond.
  • Keep it connected to real life by making a small feelings chart for family check-ins before school or bedtime.
