This set gives young children simple picture tasks with a clear same or different answer. Younger children can compare two large objects, faces, shapes, or groups of colours. Older children can study pairs with small changes, such as a missing part, a changed pattern, or a different position. The worksheets use familiar pictures and uncluttered layouts, so your child can focus on looking carefully. A child may circle the matching pair, tick the different picture, draw a line between same objects, or colour the answer. Children can work with a little help at first, then try similar pages independently.
At home, start with one sheet after a short play or reading time. Ask your child to explain how they know two pictures are the same or different, rather than giving the answer quickly. In a Nursery or LKG class, place a worksheet at a table with pencils and invite children to compare each pair aloud. You can work with a small group and hold up real objects, such as two spoons or two blocks, before moving to the page. Keep a few sheets for quiet practice, or use one as a short warm-up before Matching Worksheets.
Children often decide that two pictures are different because they are in a new place on the page, even when every detail matches. Some may look at the whole picture and miss one small change, while others may say pictures are the same because the main object looks familiar. Guide your child to compare one feature at a time: shape, colour, size, number, pattern, and position. Cover part of the page with your hand and reveal one section at a time if the task feels busy. Ask, "What is the same? What has changed?" Accept pointing or speaking before expecting a written mark.
Children practise comparing features such as shape, colour, size, number, pattern, and position. The activities also give them practice in looking carefully and explaining a choice.
They are useful from about age 2 to 6. Start with large, clear picture pairs for younger children and choose pages with smaller changes for older preschool and early primary children.
Place two objects together and ask your child what matches. Add a third object with one clear change, then ask which one is different and why.
